Things you need to know about the Intra-Operative Imaging and Navigation in today’s Computer-Assisted Spine Surgery

چکیده
A group of physical limitations to these systems exist. The O-arm images are planar and orthogonal and their views are made through digital volumetric construction affecting their spacial accuracy, though, an accuracy of a pexil representation of 1 mm is now available and acceptable [2]. The neuronavigator camera is a static one so far, and the precision of its optical tracking system depends on the position of the reference to the camera. Overall, a precision of 0.11 mm is currently available which is quite acceptable [3].

Fiducial-free Endoscopic Vertebra Referencing
Over the past decade computer aided, navigated surgery has evolved from early laboratory experiments to an indispensable tool for many interventions in spine surgery. Accurate patient registration with the pre-operative imaging modalities or referencing of the target anatomical structure is an essential component of these procedures. Many of today’s approaches are invasive and use either mechan...

BACKGROUND The intra-operative three-dimensional (3D) structure of tissue organs and laparoscope motion are the basis for many tasks in computer-assisted surgery (CAS), such as safe surgical navigation and registration of pre-operative and intra-operative data for soft tissues. METHODS This article provides a literature review on laparoscopic video-based intra-operative techniques of 3D surfa...
متن کاملOptical techniques for 3D surface reconstruction in computer-assisted laparoscopic surgery
One of the main challenges for computer-assisted surgery (CAS) is to determine the intra-operative morphology and motion of soft-tissues. This information is prerequisite to the registration of multi-modal patient-specific data for enhancing the surgeon's navigation capabilities by observing beyond exposed tissue surfaces and for providing intelligent control of robotic-assisted instruments. In...
متن کاملINTEGRATING CASE-BASED REASONING, KNOWLEDGE-BASED APPROACH AND TSP ALGORITHM FOR MINIMUM TOUR FINDING
Imagine you have traveled to an unfamiliar city. Before you start your daily tour around the city, you need to know a good route. In Network Theory (NT), this is the traveling salesman problem (TSP). A dynamic programming algorithm is often used for solving this problem. However, when the road network of the city is very complicated and dense, which is usually the case, it will take too long fo...
متن کاملMinimally Invasive Spinal Surgery with Intraoperative Image-Guided Navigation
We present our perioperative minimally invasive spine surgery technique using intraoperative computed tomography image-guided navigation for the treatment of various lumbar spine pathologies. We present an illustrative case of a patient undergoing minimally invasive percutaneous posterior spinal fusion assisted by the O-arm system with navigation. We discuss the literature and the advantages of...
